Flamin' Oh's Record Release Party

$17 Advance / $20 Day of Show

Join us for a special night with Twin Cites rock legends The Flamin’ Oh’s plus special guests The Shackletons and LowRay.  Hot off the heels of the acclaimed documentary “Jay’s Longhorn,” we’re honored to be hosting The Oh’s EP release party.

The Oh’s soared to the upper echelon of Minnesota bands with their lively shows and exciting brand of straightforward rock & roll.  They became one of the earliest bands to make music videos. Chuck Statler (music video pioneer who directed videos for DEVOElvis CostelloNick Lowe and El Vez) directed two videos for the band. The videos aired on a new television network dedicated to music, MTV.

Spiral Stairs - For his feelgood third solo album We Wanna Be Hyp-No-Tized, Pavement co-founder Scott Kannberg – best known to the musical world as Spiral Stairs – concocted some of the most fun and accessible music of his storied career by expanding his musical repertoire, in the process embracing some sounds and artists which for some reason or other slipped through the cracks as he took alternative rock to the world during his action-packed youth.

LowRay - Minneapolis-based Americana rock duo LowRay, featuring singer/guitarist Daniel Fowlds (Pill Hill) and drummer James Irving (22-20s), released their debut LP, Friends and The Fakers, on Friday, November 9, 2018. Mixed by Grammy-Award-winning engineer Jim Scott (Tom Petty, Wilco, The Rolling Stones) and Ian Davenport (Supergrass, 22-20s), Friends and The Fakers was recorded at The Terrarium in Northeast Minneapolis.

Teenage Strangler - The musical project of Dylan Lee Ritchie based in Minneapolis, MN, USA with contributions and spiritual guidance by Justin Holt, Brian Severns, A. Bill Miller, Jeff Halland, Annie Sparrows, Nathan Grumdahl, Lori Barbero, Ali Jaafar and Andrew J. Leech. The name is merely a reference to MST3K episode 514. Contrary to any malicious associations the name may have, we believe in Nonviolence and unrestricted respiratory functions for all ages.

THE SUBURBS
Often described as "a Midwest Roxy Music" but with more humor and rock scruff, The Suburbs have been making their unique punk-pop-art-dance records and performing off and on ever since the Minneapolis Sound heyday. Founded in 1977, The Suburbs are recognized worldwide as among the original heroes of the historic music era in Minneapolis that saw the emergence of other bands like The Suicide Commandos, Prince, The Replacements and Hüsker Dü. Still going strong, the Suburbs' most recent album is 2017's Hey Muse!.

Led now by original keyboardist and singer Chan Poling, original drummer Hugo Klaers, and longtime saxophonists Max Ray (also of The Wallets), they are augmented by a supergroup of newcomers: Stevie Brantseg and Jeremy Ylvisaker on guitars, Steve Price on bass, Janey Winterbauer on backup vocals, Rochelle Becker on Bari Sax and Stephen Kung on horns and keys.

LOWRAY
Mixed by Grammy-Award Winning Engineer Jim Scott (Tom Petty, Wilco) and Ian Davenport (Band of Skulls, Supergrass), Friends and the Fakers announces the official arrival of LowRay as the Twin Cities' next great Americana rock band.

LowRay are another in the long line of Trans-Atlantic musical partnerships. For his part in the duo singer and guitarist Dan Fowlds (Bump, Pill Hill) looked east to David Bowie, Black Sabbath and The Rolling Stones alongside his Americana influences while growing up. A musical career started in Northeast Minneapolis in the 1980s woodshedding in his parent’s basement later moved on to contest wins, touring and recording over the next 30 years. James Irving (22-20s) was very much looking back the other way from his English homeland. Son of a Jazz pianist, he was a big band drummer in his youth before eventually landing a gig with 22-20s – a deep south influenced 4 piece renowned for their fearsome, blues soaked live performances.

This concert is a Rochester WinterFest event.
